When the world gets together: How to make it work in 2017
The world got together in 2017 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first edition of The Great Gatsby.
It was an event that featured a huge lineup of film, music, theatre, and theatre companies, including a very different sort of film festival than any we had seen before.
But the celebrations didn’t end there.
We got to watch a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory (and a few other TV shows) as well as read the book The Great Book of Gatsbys, and I had a chance to chat with the writer and director of The Greatest American Novel, Alan Bennett.
What did you learn from the Great Book?
Alan: I think that I’ve learned a lot from the book and from a lot of people.
One of the things that I learned is that a lot people just love to say things that don’t really add up to anything, so they tend to fall back on a bunch of other stuff that they know they can make up for it.
So the Great Gates book was an example of that.
