— The first day of this week’s All-Star game was dominated by a new, and somewhat unexpected, trend.
The Atlanta Braves, the hottest team in baseball, won the game, and then some.
The Cubs won the World Series.
This week, the Cubs, and their fans, took the opportunity to take the All-Stars for a spin.
Here are a few of the more interesting, and often-overlooked, moments from the 2017 All-Stadium Series.1.
Cubs fans took to the air to sing the National Anthem before the game 2.
Cubs star Cody Rhodes, who plays right field, went out to the outfield to get the ball before the second inning started.
Cubs catcher Anthony Rizzo had a few words of wisdom for the All Stars before the first inning.
“You guys get on the field for the first time.
I think you’ll be fine,” Rizzosc said to the crowd before the start of the game.
“We’ll see how it goes.”4.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon was the first one out of the dugout during the first half of the All Star break.
During the first innings, the All Times were played at 7:05 p.m. for the Cubs and the Reds.
Maddon went out on the mound after the Cubs had already scored two runs.
He was joined by outfielder Yoan Moncada, who is now the Reds best player.
The crowd booed for two minutes after the game ended, but only after Maddon told the crowd, “That’s what I do.”8.
The All Stars, a group of 30 players, are usually introduced to the public at a ceremony that’s held at the start, but it was a different occasion for the players this week.9.
The first pitch was thrown in the first game of the series by catcher Hector Rondon, a teammate of Maddon’s who was traded to the Cubs this offseason.10.
On Monday, the Cincinnati Reds, who have won the last five games, took home their third championship in the last four seasons.11.

He made one out, but didn’t finish it.
It was his final appearance for the Cincinnati Bengals before being traded to Cincinnati in the offseason.12.
The Chicago Cubs went up by two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to a home run by Cubs outfielder Addison Russell, who hit a two-run homer in the eighth.13.

The two teams were tied for the lead by the time the ninth came around.

On the night the Cubs won their second World Series title in franchise history, the game was played in front of a national television audience, which was only made possible thanks to Maddons final pitch.20.
